Description

In this week’s episode, women’s health expert and pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Marcy Crouch does a deep dive into how our pelvic floor supports us during pregnancy. And, since Alyson Hempsey is now in her third trimester, she spares no details when it comes to everything you need to know about pelvic floor health!

There are a few different functions of our pelvic floor, but one of the main ones is to support us (that’s why we refer to it as the“floor of the core”).  When we add on a pregnancy, the weight of the baby, a placenta, increase of body mass, fluid and blood volume, the load and demand on the group of muscles that make up our pelvic floor grows exponentially over the course of 9 months. This is when common concerns like leaking and prolapse come up (and remember, common does not mean normal).

If you are pregnant, plan to be, are recently postpartum, or are experiencing any pelvic floor issues, you do not want to miss out on this week’s episode!
