Description

Lauren's journey started at five years old when her mom threw her into the pool where her elder sisters were swimming. She slowly began to learn and fall in love with swimming becoming an elite athlete in this highly competitive sport. Being a student of Political Science, the next step she wanted to take was law school, which she failed on her first attempt. But she was not one who easily gives up. So, she gave more heart and effort to prepare for the second time. Still, she didn't make it. Little did she know that such resilience would later hugely impact her life not only when she entered the corporate world as an HR, but more so as she shifted to the coaching business for athletes.

Regardless of her failed past ambitions, she finally saw the stars aligning for her. Weeks before the Covid outbreak, and months before the 2020 Summer Olympics, she started her coaching business. Being a former athlete herself, she was specifically passionate about working with athletes. She became so obsessed with the Summer Olympics. When Katie Ledecky failed at keeping her world record, she was devastated, trying to hide her emotions, she was deflecting every interview. At this, Michael Phelps said, "Competing at this level of the competition is very overwhelming. We just want someone who listens, someone we can talk to, and someone who doesn't wanna change us." That was a defining moment she keeps looking back to now that she has embarked on the coaching venture.

Mental Resilience is her focus in coaching. Although she has chosen to work with elite athletes, this is applicable to anyone from all walks of life. Whether you are an athlete, a parent, or a mentor of an athlete, this episode is for you. Learn how important "taking a moment" or "taking a pause" in every powerful performance and understand what exactly does it mean and how it is done. Then you can help any athlete you know on how to deal with the stressors and the pressures they experience in this highly esteemed yet extremely scrutinized industry.
