Description

Still bound by the societal stigma and the negative narratives around breadwinning women? It's time we speak more about it and normalize it. Alongside her family, this is Bethany's true passion, and we all can advance this feminine cause by amplifying her voice.
  • Overview of Breadwinning Women - what it does as a community and who are the members
  • Discussing the possible difference it had made among women and their families had these conversations been present a decade ago or so
  • Clarifying the importance of setting the family values and weighing the factors of deciding who gets to become the main family provider based on these values
  • Balancing the invisible work (and the possibility of outsourcing services) at home when the woman plays the role of the main provider
  • Identifying family struggles based on gender norms
  • Intentionally discussing the seemingly minor (but huge) issues in the marriage partnership
  • The need to educate people in the workplace and debunk the seemingly cemented stereotypes against working women.

Somehow, learning to be comfortable talking about the uncomfortable is what we need in order to achieve more acceptance and normalization. We have to speak more often and more loudly for ourselves. It's always been hard to look for role models when we decide to work or not to work. We might as well be the role models.
