Hey yall, Happy season 2! Happy Summer - hope it's treated you well! I just can’t tell you how happy I am to be back recording for this new season of EMNAF! If you haven't gotten a chance to listen to last season, it'll always be there, but if this is your first episode, let me catch you up... Hi, I’m Anna, wife to Christopher, mom to Ellie, Kate and currently growing our third baby in my belly (baby Plant, IYKYK)... who is set to arrive October 1st! In my fun 8, almost 9 years of marriage we’ve moved 4 times and are currently still settling into our 5th city together here in Seattle, Washington!
And my hope was and still is to this day that I can create respite for women, especially moms. Moms are probably always surrounded by people, but can be some of the loneliest people in need of a friend. At least I can speak for myself that for an extrovert who always finds my way to groups of people, I have had some of the loneliest and darkest times - I mean truly I didn’t know it was possible to be so well connected but still feel lonely.
You could say this is a mix of my own fault as I have happily and willingly have said many "yes’s" to my husband's growing career that has lead us around the country. But let's do some truth talk here... this is also because I feel like in our current environment of being connected always through a phone, this (surprisingly) just really didn’t aid in shortening this lonely cycle that enviably happens to all of us at some point. So through moving and getting all my comfort zones stripped away time and time again, I came to know how powerful a playdate was with other moms and her kids… that a coordinated 2 hours of a playdate (aka 20 minutes of combined conversation with the other mom), made me feel seen and heard.
So I felt like there’s no better time than the present for me to create this space to mimic that feeling - that bite sized part of a moms day that they reenergize through connection… so that’s what my hope is here! And to be honest, this is just too dang much fun to do… and I’m glad and excited that I’ve done this for the past year and I’m pumped to see what this next year holds.
