(4:25): My MRI shows I have a herniated disc - can BPT Fix this?
(5:40): Poor posture is the number one cause of neck pain!
(6:35): Sitting is the primary issue contributing to poor posture and neck pain.
(9:11): When we sit, the head is protruding forward, chest is dropped, shoulders rolled forward and this is not ideal for the neck.
(9:34): The head weighs around 15 pounds!
(10:50): The herniated disc is likely not the cause of your pain. Doctor states surgery is necessary for the herniation, but this may not actually fix your pain.
(12:30): Our client yesterday reported neck pain that started three years ago and his doctor told him his pain is coming from a herniation in his neck which was caused by a car accident 20 years ago…
(13:25): Objective tests can identify if the pain is actually coming from the herniation.
(14:45): He actually had an ankle injury at the time of his car accident. This lead to hip instability, malalignment of the spine, leading to shoulder imbalance and neck pain.
(16:35): “Where it is, It Ain’t”
(17:27): Pain is usually NOT from the herniation. Pain is usually an effect of Posture and another mechanical issue somewhere else!
(19:40): Herniations can cause symptoms with traumatic injuries. However, the herniation is often not causing the pain - something else is causing pain.
(21:30): We have seen clients have surgery and have not improved - or they feel better for only a month and the pain returns… because their symptoms were from something ELSE!!
(22:45): This Podcast is for Entertainment purposes, not to diagnose or treat! You should consult with your physical therapist, primary care physician, or medical provider.
(25:45): Proper Exercise improves muscle balance which can help improve posture.
