Nothing has made me reflect more than having a kid. All of sudden I am given the responsibility to help raise and care for a human. Who signed off on this?!
I feel that the practice of yoga has given me a few tools to help me fill this important
1. Having a physical practice, like yoga, helps my body keep up with my son. Less pain, less injury, more time to play.
2. Meditation helps me show up and be present
3. Discipline (tapas) reminds me the importance of showing up even when I dont feel like it.
4. Truthfulness (satya) keeps communication with my wife on how we should be as a family. Creating a united front and vision.
You dont have to be a yogi to be a good dad. However, these lessons have helped me navigate this everchanging experience called fatherhood.
