Have you ever had situations come up where you find yourself immediately reacting to them.  Maybe someone said something to you or did something.  Maybe it was something you witnessed or heard.  Whatever it was, you reacted.  And if you’re like me, you might have reacted in a way that you later regretted.   I would guess we all have done it at least one time in our lives.  Maybe not, I could be wrong.    But I don’t think so. Why? Because  we are all human!

 Honestly it’s human nature to react before we think because for thousands of years this was key to human survival.  We had to always be on the look out for danger, we had to be reactionary if we wanted to live.

On today's episode I will  discuss a tool that has helped me understand what I was thinking on those occasions I reacted so quickly in a way I didn’t like,  and then I want to talk about the POWER that happens when we take a brief pause in those situations.

So often we think it's the situation, the event,  that causes us to feel a certain way. But guess what?  It's not the situation at all.  It's what we make that situation mean.  It's the thought we have about the situation that makes us feel the way we do.  And if we aren't intentional about what it is we want to think about the situation or event, our emotions might get the better of us, and we will end up reacting instead of intentionally acting.  

There is so much power when we take a brief moment and pause.
