Joel Olandeca is an Entrepreneur, Business Owner, Event Professional, Event Technology Innovator, and current Chair of Canada’s, International Live Events Association or “ILEA”.
Joel is the creator and co-founder of SOS Charging Solutions and SOS Web.AR.SOS is known for providing mobile device charging at events across the globe, but for them it's more than just charging.
Imagine an event where attendees are sitting on the floor next to a plug and are worried about how they are going to make their phones last until the end of the day.
Now imagine your event where guests are provided with a charger conveniently placed on their table: they use the event app, text their spouse, follow the sponsor on IG, plug their phone in and then shake hands with the colleague charging beside them.
In addition to keeping events #chargedup, and providing a unique way for brands to reach attendees, the SOS solutions are well known to bring people together.
With SOS Web.AR, Joel and his team are continuing to help planners enhance the event experience by combining digital elements with the real world - effectively and simply.
Joel is a passionate advocate for the events industry and the impact it has on the global economy and culture. He has served as the President of the International Live Events Association - Calgary Chapter, and is currently Chair for ILEA Canada.
In addition to being an entrepreneur, innovator, and educator, he is also a firm believer of giving back to others. Joel is an avid volunteer who loves to support causes that are close to his heart.
In our conversation today, we not only talked about the current state of events, but what can be designed, developed, and reimagined for the future!
