How do we help our people deal with the demands of the time?
We want to help them think for themselves - but they may not be ready for that. They may be suffering from what they've been through or are still going through.
Empathy for suffering makes space for us to hear other points of view.
When we hear other points of view we have the data we need for helping people, and for negotiating and bringing people with us.
Some of the experiences we need to empathise with ...
Fear, grief and guilt - and the resulting energy drain & long-term distress.
Confusion, loss of identity and apathy.
Negative patterns - such as inflexibility, obsessing, righteousness and defensiveness.
Anger and resentment.
Victim syndrome.
