God calls us to live out the beatitudes in small ways all of the time. That call certainly isn't an easy one. However, we don't have to make one giant leap to become 'poor in spirit' or sit around hoping for suffering to come our way in order to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Becoming Holy is a slow process and it's accomplished one cross at a time - never alone but with the help of Jesus our Savior.
