The small wins and the connection you have with the audience over the challenge days create a strong bond and exponentially develop the know like and trust that is needed to do successful business.
A challenge can take you from someone who's maybe not known at all to your participants, to someone who has delivered a huge value and been there to help interact and basically being a contactable human!!
