The Book of Genesis (Week 13) – Fr. Drew Knowles
Reflection Questions:
- In Genesis 15, Abram questions the “how” of God’s promises: “what will you give me?” (v2) and “how am I to know?” (v8). Compare this with Luke 1:18. Why do you think Zechariah (an elderly man with a barren wife) is punished for asking the same question as Abram?
- God made promises to Abram that were not fulfilled for many generations. Not only did Abram die before entering the promised land, but several generations of his descendants knew nothing but slavery – lifelong slavery. For centuries, they were stuck in a state of spiritual stagnation. How does this redefine the meaning of patience? What allows us to keep hoping even when we have nothing to show for it?
