Description

In this episode I talk to my old mate (who is actually my new mate) Lisa Marshall.  Lisa lives in my hometown of Dayboro and is a personal trainer and nutrition coach.

Lisa grew up with chronic asthma and got into swimming at a young age to help with her lung capacity.  She is a black belt in karate, a mum to two awesome adults, a fur mama to dogs, cats and horses, a wife to a handsome young fellow (I had to say that because I accidentally called him old one day) and all-round decent chick who doesn’t mind a bit of a curse.

At one point in Lisa's life she was unfit, extremely, as she would say, put on 20kg with her first pregnancy and found herself in the depths of post-natal depression for many years to come.

Lisa has struggled with other people’s expectations of how a PT “should” look, but now she is 50 and fabulous she has buggared off those shackles and the weight of other’s opinions.

This chat took a turn I wasn’t expecting and it was enlightening, heartening, raw and real.  I love my friend a little bit more after this chat.

After 372 false starts, we finally got there, so the introduction is lack lustre to say the least.  My whiz-bang microphone picked up the chirping birdies from her outdoor area perfectly, it also picked up the wind blowing through and I discovered that Garage Band on my phone could not record past a certain point (must have been my settings) so it finishes rather abruptly.

Thanks Kayleen Sheppard photographer for the photo of Lisa.
