In Noah's three sons, we are given the spiritual categories: Through Ham, the unbeliever. Through Shem, believers born and raised in the covenant. Through Japheth, those outside the covenant, but brought in later. This passage not only gives us the outline of God’s plan in history, but it teaches us the toll that sin takes. Sin brings us shame and immense regret—that feeling of wishing we could go back and get a re-do. But the Lord Jesus Christ covers the shame of those who receive his blessing.
