"I know I can't choose the time and the culture I was born in, but sometimes I feel powerless over the waves of cultural emphasis on power, wealth, status, and beauty. I struggle personally but also find it discouraging that churches in my affluent community don't look all that much different in what they pursue from the world. I feel like the core of what is pursued is power and money like the world but putting some weird Jesus packaging on it. I know this is a gross generalization but any words of encouragement that can help me process this tension?"
