Our special guest, Kristin Chadwick is a Transformational Coach and Podcaster who inspires us to use the incredible imagination that God has given us to be creative as the Spirit leads us in our prayer lives. We use our imagination all the time - to worry, to think "What if...", to dream dreams, etc. But we can connect more intimately with Jesus by asking the Spirit to lead us to envision stories of the Bible and the working of God in our lives and others' lives for whom we are praying.
Take time to picture God with you and He will enter into that place. Practice using your imagination, inviting the Spirit into it and God will bring you to a more personal walk with Him. As you do this more and more, like a muscle, this imaginative skill will grow stronger. Always invite the Spirit into these times so He will protect you and lead you to where He wants you to go. Spirit-led imagination is not you making up things apart from God, but rather connecting your thoughts with God.
A wonderful way to start (and continue) is to meditate on Scripture. Take a story from the Bible and then use all your senses and imagine what it would be like for that character or for you in that situation. You can also do this through journaling, or using voice memos. After the Spirit speaks to you, write down your experience. If you are an artist, let the Spirit lead you to draw and speak to you.
Lies can prevent us from being more intimate with God. But through imagination, we can break through strongholds. This frees us from performance for acceptance, doing but not being with God, and not seeing ourselves as God sees us. "Imagination is the backdoor of inner healing" (Kristin Chadwick).
