Description

This week we discuss how the downfall of the FTX crypto exchange may have impacted outstanding NIL deals. In 2021 and early 2022, FTX was focused on marketing within the sports world. As a result, the company entered into several team-wide NIL deals with major collegiate programs. We also talk about other NIL deals that may have been ended due to the failure of a business and what this could mean for athlete compensation.

Our guest this week is Patrick Johnson from Vantage Sports. Patrick tells us how athletes on his platform are using technology to connect to fans and organize in-person training sessions with young athletes!

In our News and Facts segment, we discuss the launch of the Cincy Reigns collective, Fordham University Athletics’ partnership with Moritt Hock & Hamroff, the launch of the Roll the Quad collective, and the passing of New York’s NIL legislation.

Our NIL Mathlete segment covers NIL deals between student-athletes and FTX.

We hear from Nillie Athletes Joaquin Monque, Dior Nicholson, and Kobe Andrate. We also discuss our favorite recent nillies including University of Washington football team trading cards being sold at Jacksons and Katelyn Tuohy’s deal with Adidas Running
