We're going to back to the 70s this week for Butterflies Are Free, starring Goldie Hawn, Edward Albert and Eileen Heckart. Jill, an independent and free-spirited actress, moves into an apartment in San Francisco. Her neighbor is a blind songwriter who is living on his own for the first time.
This one was a bit of a wild ride for us and apparently for everyone else who's seen it. Reviewers described it as "shallow and often insufferable" (The Washington Post) and as having the "kind of sentimentality that shrivels the mind, like something left in water too long" (The New York Times), and yet we totally understand how it got its Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations and wins. You know you're intrigued now! Listen today to hear more about this unusual play-turned-movie. You can find Butterflies Are Free on Amazon Prime or YouTube TV.
