During this interview Penni and I discuss her journey in simulation and her work around the International Nursing Association Clinical Simulation and Learning, (INACSL) standards. Penni shares her fond memories of Dr. Chad Epps and his role in shaping her to become the simulationist she is today. Sit back and enjoy as we talk all things simulation.
Dr. Penni Watts is the Assistant Director for the Office of Interprofessional Curriculum and Associate Professor and the Director of Simulation and at the UAB School of Nursing in Birmingham AL. Her clinical expertise is in critical care and ER nursing. Dr. Watts has been in nursing education for over 20 years and currently leads interprofessional initiatives for the UAB campus and the nursing simulation program at the school of nursing.. She has expertise in designing IP experiences for curriculum integration and faculty development in IP education and simulation with an ongoing passion in teamwork training. She chairs the SSH CHSE-A Subcommittee and the INACSL Standards Committee and also serves as a site reviewer for SSH Accreditation. Most recently Dr. Penni Watts has been named a 2022 Fellow (FSSH) for the Society of Simulation and Healthcare.
