Description

Ordained minister Dennis Hall and Pastor Jim Murphy, Christ Anglican Church, Cashiers, North Carolina discussed the implications of the phrase "Walk the Talk" on a T-shirt worn by a young man. They point out that according to the Pew report that 78.4% of Americans describe themselves as Christians but only about 20% of Americans go to church. It appears that we may be a nation that talks the talk but mostly does not walk the walk. How do we know if someone is a Christian are not? Can someone just announce that they are Christian? Or do the way we lead our lives have something to say about that? Talk is cheap and sometimes professing Christians show no evidence of genuine salvation. Is Christianity just some label we wear or a banner to wave to appease our conscience? In 1 John 2 the apostle John writes that if we know Jesus, we keep his commandments. And whoever says, "I know him" but do not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. These two pastors discuss what it means to totally surrender to the leadership of Jesus Christ and how to prioritize obedience. They stress the importance of fellowship with other genuine Christians. They acknowledge that we must be prepared to struggle with sin, repent, and ask forgiveness. God has made provision ongoing cleansing of the ongoing struggle with sin.
