Description

Pastor Dennis Hall and his guest Justin Bohner, Assistant Pastor, First Baptist Church, Highlands, North venture into the controversy surrounding the new song by country music artist Jason Aldean, "Try That In A Small Town." This song and the accompanying video highlight the chaos and anarchy that is regularly seen on television and occurs primarily in the urban streets of America. These two pastors discuss crime in small towns compared to urban areas, noting similarities and differences. With all of the chaos and anarchy that seems to be swirling around cities in America, these pastors point out that the Bible provides universal principles that should guide us in our behavior toward government. God speaks through the apostle Paul in Romans 13:1 where we read, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established." In verse two Paul goes on to say, "Consequently he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." These pastors flesh out how Christians should interpret Paul's teaching in Romans 13 in contemporary society. It is pointed out that God does expect us to obey and honor those in government except when secular laws are immoral under God's law. The podcast concludes by pointing out that God expects order and respect for one another and the governing authorities. There are times when followers of Christ will be called upon to stand up with a holy "NO!" In the face of evil and injustice. Can also be seen on YouTube at:https://youtu.be/bpXXw-q81Qo
