In this inaugural episode, Billy D. and Melissa G. are in conversation with Tenia Davis, Ph.D., senior vice president and the first-ever chief human resources officer at NORC (the nonpartisan and objective research organization) at the University of Chicago. Billy, Melissa, and Tenia discuss the importance of awareness when it comes to making connections in and out of the workplace, the concept of the "ripple effect," and understanding that nothing is accomplished alone.
Tenia joined NORC from HBR Consulting, where she served as chief talent and administrative services officer, overseeing the company’s talent, legal, information technology, and security operations. Prior to HBR Consulting, Davis led HR operations for a diverse range of organizations, including HARPO productions (The Oprah Winfrey Show), Johnson Publishing Company, Raise, and iManage.
Tenia is also a consummate relational networker or Networlder as I, Melissa, like to call those who are powerful at making wonderful connections that benefit all involved and those communities they serve
Tenia holds an MBA from the Loyola University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from Benedictine University’s Center for Values-Driven Leadership. She is a recognized community leader interested in mentoring the next generation of volunteers and leaders.
