This week we step over into 2 Kings. Things have changed a bit. Ahab has died and his son, Ahaziah, now reigns as king. You can imagine that this isn't quite a step in the right direction for Israel.
We open with Ahaziah injured and wondering if he will survive. He commands messengers to embark on a quest to discover his fate. The Lord cuts their journey short with the truth delivered through Elijah even though they never intended to seek the wisdom of the Lord.
Ahaziah's days are numbered, and he will surely die. Sharing this news with Ahaziah seems a bit perilous for the prophet, Elijah.
We find Elijah sitting on a hill. Although a strategic position, he isn't the one with a battle plan.
Listen in and find out how this mission works out Elijah and what lessons we can walk away with in order to sit on our own hills.
Bible verses referred to in this episode:
