According to Stacker, The American Police killed 1,144 people killed by police in 2021, according to Mapping Police Violence, up from 1,132 people in 2020. Despite making up only 13% of the American population, Black people represent 23% of those killed by law enforcement in 2021. Police brutality, micro-aggression, racism, and excessive use of force in law enforcementĀ some would argue is more prevalent among African Americans.
