Church leaders have long known the power of storytelling to communicate biblical truths, engage people’s hearts, and invite them into a relationship with God. But what is it about storytelling that makes it so effective?

The answer: stories don’t just communicate facts; they communicate truths.

A fact can be disputed, but truth cannot. And since we all want to live in alignment with truth, we find ourselves drawn in by stories that reveal truths about our own lives and God.

When leaders use storytelling, they are tapping into a powerful way to engage people’s hearts and minds. Storytelling can help people understand and remember what they hear, making it an effective tool for teaching and discipleship.

Most importantly, no matter what kind of story leaders tell, it is important that they aim for authenticity. Stories are more powerful when they are grounded in truth.

To know more about using storytelling effectively, we're joined by Robert Carnes, a storytelling expert who has experience in business and ministry contexts. He will share the process he uses to write and tell stories that resonate with audiences.

“The good news is every person has a story. And because churches are made up of people, your church has stories. You just have to start looking for them.”
-Robert Carnes
