In the late 2000's, Chris Hancock was playing ultimate in the cold, wet pacific northwest winters and wanted a glove that would help his grip while not affecting his throws. In 2012, he found a Japanese hardware glove that worked well and he decided to introduce the US ultimate market to gloves. The next 9 years would be a wild ride of overcoming stigma, world travel, and many hot air balloon rides. Before the pandemic, Friction introduced a product designed for disc golf, which has also started to flourish. As the leader in disc sport gloves, the story behind Friction's rise has many unexpected turns.
