On January 14, 2018 at 5:49 in the morning a 911 operator in Perris, California receives a call from a scared and uncertain girl who reports to the 911 operator that she has just run away from home to call for help. She lives in a family of 15, and she tells the 911 operator that her parents are abusive toward her and her siblings. The 911 operator asks how the parents are abusive and the girl tells her that the parents slap them, throw them across the room and yank on their hair, sometimes pulling it out of their heads. Not only that, but two of her younger siblings are currently chained up and she has no way to save them. It would later turn out that this call came from a brave young woman named Jordan Turpin, and she might have saved her life and the lives of her 12 siblings by making that 911 call that evening.
