The Great Lakes in North America were formed when colossal glaciers from the past melted, and left huge gouges in the land. Throughout the years those gouges filled with rainwater and snow melt off, and gave us the Great Lakes. To give you an idea of how enormous these lakes are - They have enough water to cover all of North America in 18 inches of water, there are over 35,000 islands scattered across all 5 of the lakes, and you could expect to travel 6,500 miles if you want to drive around the Great Lakes. I originally planned to do a Great Lakes episode, and that’s still the plan, but for this particular episode we’re specifically going to be focusing on the shores of the state of Michigan.
