July 15th, 1976 in Chowchilla, California should have been a simple, summer day. It was hot, the sun was shining, the kids were playing at the city pool and all seemed well. But by that evening, it became clear that something was in fact very, very wrong when 26 children and their bus driver failed to return home after a routine day in summer school.
