On Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, 23 year old Chandler Halderson walked into the Dane County Sheriff’s station to report his parents missing. He told detectives that his parents had planned to go to their family cabin for the 4th of July holiday, but they had intended to return on Monday, and he still hadn’t heard from them. At first, it seemed as though his parents might have become lost or stranded in the woods or had perhaps gotten into an accident on their way to or from the cabin. But as the missing persons case started to unfold it quickly became clear that Bart and Krista Halderson’s disappearance was not an accident.
