This event will be lacking the defending champion, Phil Mickelson. Lefty won last year in a charming victory but he has become invisible after a variety of comments. Still, the field is strong.
Tiger Woods is in the field but don’t expect him to do more than provide some highlights and thrills. He’s a long shot, given his lone appearance his last year’s accident in California was at The Masters, where he faded after a good start.
The Masters winner Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm are the co-favorites at +1100. Rory McIlroy checks in at +1400. After that Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa are +1600.
Truth be told the field is so strong that if you have an inkling as to who may play well there will be a juicy payoff at the end of the tournament if you hit.
