Rose Duignan, who retired from the visual effects industry working for George Lucas, researches and writes Golden Boomers, a blog about group living.
Rose lives with three other women, one of whom is her sister, in Berkeley, Calif. And she extols the virtues of this type of living situation. Not only is it a "financial lightening of the load," she says, it's also psychologically and emotionally healthier than living alone. Did you know, she asks, that loneliness is worse for your health than smoking?
Anyway, Rose says that she and her housemates are setting a trend, and she wants to tell the world about it.
Learn more about group living from her blog and also from "My House, Our House: Living Far Better for Far Less in a Cooperative Household," a book she highly recommends.
Toward the end of the show, Rose talks about her amazing career. The first project she worked on at Industrial Light & Magic was Star Wars, and then she went on to The Wrath of Khan and Return of the Jedi. She also collaborated on a book that was published about the company in 1996.
