Description

Madeline Lepidi-Carino, a retired lawyer, is running for elected office for the very first time.  After a long career in mental health, juvenile law and mediation, she's now aiming to restore civil discourse in city government.

Madeline has lived in Hudson, Ohio, for 47 years and has paid attention to city government throughout the decades. Recently, she says, she's witnessed a decline in civility, similar to what's happened on the national level.

She wants to restore the ability to talk things out, and she considers her age to be an asset in her quest for Hudson's Ward 2 City Council seat. "During my years of experience, I've learned how to connect with people, to really listen to them and to respect their views, even if their views differ from mine," she says. "And that's why I'm running for office."

Two of her core beliefs are listening respectfully to others and working collaboratively for the common good. A once fiery Italian who has learned and grown from past mistakes that she freely discusses, Madeline is feisty and rarin' to go to work on her fellow residents' behalf.

I'm your host, and I also live in Hudson's Ward 2. I appreciate the characteristics and skills that Madeline could bring to council, and I applaud the courage it takes to put oneself out there. Please share this episode with others who believe in kindness, community and collaboration.
