In the upper room the night before He died, Jesus took the cup and said “This is the new covenant in my blood.” But what is this new covenant? How is it different than the old covenant? This session explores what is taught in Hebrews 8 & 10 and Jeremiah 31 about this new covenant. Steve and Glenn discuss the great benefits of the new covenant to all nations, both Jew and Gentile, and the blessings we have in Christ. The new covenant is a fulfillment of something originally promised to Abraham but also mentioned in Jeremiah. Today all people can have a great blessing in this covenant.
However, if we look at the specifics of the language in the covenant, we find some details that complicate things. By dealing with the specific promises in the covenant, we find the best interpretive approach that allows us to keep the promises as written in the text without interpretive gymnastics.
