Today’s episode is going to be a little different than past episodes. When I started this podcast, I did it because I wanted to share my mental health success story with others, in hopes that it would inspire them. As I struggled with mental health through the years, I had a really difficult time finding other people like me who actually got better. I just thought I would be broken forever.
Luckily, that wasn’t the case and through acceptance and commitment therapy I learned how to overcome anxiety, deal with depression, and be calm.
So, this is the first episode in a series that I will do periodically where I share mental health success stories.
Today, we’re joined by Mike Martin. Mike is the founder of Project Mindfully Outdoors a blog and podcast that serves as the backdrop for sharing his journey.
Following a failed suicide attempt, and many months of homelessness in the wake of some major life-changing events, he began a journey of self-discovery to confront the obstacles in his mental health. This path led him to take up the cause of ending the silent suffering that comes with depression and anxiety. He accomplishes this by breaking down the stigmas around mental health, through shared stories on the Project Mindfully Outdoors podcast.
