Description

About the episodeOn this special episode, Rose sets her friend James the high protein diet challenge, with the aim of reducing his sugar intake. We eat way too much sugar. Most already know about the health conditions associated with too much sugar such as weight gain, high blood pressure, poor sleep, skin problems. The list goes on. A key problem with sugary foods is that they are both addictive and lack nutritional value - leading to a perpetual circle of overeating. That’s where the high protein diet comes in. Advocates of a high protein diet claim you can have improved sleep, increased our energy levels and left feeling more sated after meals. So, can a high protein diet reduce our sugar cravings and lead to a more energised, rested, self, or is it just another health fad we’re better off avoiding? The Challenge: James will eat 1 gram of protein, as per kilo of your body weight, (e.g. If you weigh 60 kilos you’ll eat 60 grams of protein) for one week and abstain from sugary foods. James will pay particular attention to his sleep and energy levels. About the hostsEve Kalinik is a nutritional therapist and author.
