Do you talk to the elders in your family to better understand your roots? A few years back, Chan jumped on the bandwagon and submitted a DNA sample to 23andme. Then, she asked her family to do the same. Getting the results opened up discussions with her parents about their lineage but her search for family history didn't go too far beyond finding some official documents (census records, birth and death certificates) online. During Black History Month, Chan and Myzie decided to start shaking their family trees to learn more of the personal stories behind the records. This week's episode - an interview with Chan's dad , Mr. K- is the result of that effort (and just one part of what they hope will be a series).
Episode Note: In the episode, Mr. K mentions his experience with higher education. He received an A.S. in Computing with a focus on Business Accounting from Forsyth Tech and a B.A. in Social Science/Psychology from Shaw University, an HBCU. Support HBCUs!
