You don't want to be the kind of person who says "yes" and then doesn't follow through. That's not cool! And there are lots of reasons why keeping your promises is important in business and life.
But what if you can't? What if you promise something and then have an emergency come up? Or what if someone makes a mistake and things aren't going to work out? If that happens, you might think it's better to just not tell anyone about it—but that's not true!
If you can't keep your promises, at least let people know why. Tell them upfront that there's been a change of plans, or as soon as possible after the fact so they can make plans accordingly. That way, they'll still be able to trust you, even if things don't go exactly as planned.
