Krispy Kreme Doughnuts bought Panera Bread. They really did. Panera reportedly sold for seven and a half billion dollars, and that is a sweet deal. This is awesome news, because I love both places. I’m just hoping they will combine their menus. Then I can order a nutritious strawberry poppyseed salad, with some healthy grilled, free range chicken and a dozen, yes a dozen, hot glazed doughnuts.
This acquisition is not too surprising though, because change is a big part of life. From politics to music, from computers to the weather, we live in a world of constant change. When I was young, I watched a futuristic cartoon show called the Jetsons and dreamed of flying a car on another planet, and today, private citizens can fly in outer space.
Outward change is everywhere, but what about inward change? Most adults say they wish they could change things in their past. C.S. Lewis addressed this issue using only one sentence, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” I love that! Start where you are.
It’s exciting to know we can choose to change for the better. Personally, I find the greatest change happens when I follow and listen to the One who doesn’t change. In the book of Hebrews, we’re reminded that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. If we want a better tomorrow, let’s start where are today, while leaning on the changeless One.
