Harriet finally has some time off from her medical residency to go on her yearly trip with her best friends. It turns out that her ex, Wyn, was also invited, largely because they neglected to tell anyone that they broke up six months ago. So now they’re sharing the master bedroom for a week and they can’t come clean to their friends because the cottage, Harriet’s happy place, is being put up for sale. And not only is this trip like a last hurrah for the cottage, two of the friends announce their engagement the first night. They can’t put a damper on the mood by telling everyone they aren’t together anymore! They’ve gotta fake it till they make it and try not to notice the feelings that are bubbling up between them. We’ve got the forced proximity, the second chance, and I guess a little bit of fake dating.
A lot of Harriet’s journey is about deciding whether to let go of a dream that no longer excites her, despite the time and energy she’s already invested into it.
