Coming out happens in layers. This layer I call "thinking my whole world was going to fall apart because I was about to ruin everyone's happiness". That's a bit dramatic, but hopefully it conveys how terrified I was to come out to my family. *Terrified* I didn't know what to expect. My parents are fabulous people and I knew that I didn't need to be afraid of them disowning me or ostracizing me from the family or anything radical like that, but I knew that my coming out was going to be surprising and painful and disappointing.
