Hello Happy People,
Today Dianne brings you the second part of the three part interview with Allie "Book Historia" Alvis. They had such an fascinating talk about book history, publishing and rebinding techniques, types of books and book elements developed over the years, and so much more.
In this episode, they chat about Allie's life after grad school and what it was like to land her first job at the Smithsonian in Washington DC. She shares a great story about the time she was asked to babysit "something" in the special collections reading room.
Allie also shares one of her "babies" she was able to work with at the Smithsonian. You can read Allie's article about the book on our Burckhardt Books website. They also discuss the Horn Book, an early children's book design. You can find a photo and a linked article about Horn Books on our blog post as well.
Next week we wrap up our interview with Allie as we discuss her work outside of Type Punch Matrix including her endeavors as "Book Historia" throughout social media. Links are listed below.
So now it's time to listen to the podcast and then go forth ... and be happy.
