Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

Kent Hughes writes, "THE FINAL CHAPTER of this letter seems a bit anticlimactic. Chapter 15 was a lengthy and beautiful treatment of the most pivotal event in human history—the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So anything that comes after that seems like a postscript. In fact, at the end of Paul’s letters he appears to be cramming in a bunch of disjointed thoughts before the curtain closes. But through these final instructions, what the reader sees emerging is a portrait of a community that lives in light of that event that changed the world—the kind of community that the church is supposed to be. And very simply put, it’s one that mends what’s torn, that rights what’s wrong—that reconciles. How?

It's so important to read other's thoughts and gain the insights God has given them, for just as Hughes states about the initial perception of how Paul ends his letters, I often think the same. However, the added insights he provides about the community are new to me.

Join me in reading chapter 16 and be encouraged!
