Lack of proper instructions, will stunt Christian growth. A clear example of this is found in Acts 19, where an imperfect body of truth had produced a correspondingly imperfect type of Christian. It took Paul, with a fuller degree of truth, to bring these stunted disciples into a better and healthier spiritual state.
