Self-trust (which is really distrust of God) can have no place in a believer's life if he or she desires maximum use by God. As Oswald Chambers wrote:
God can achieve his purpose either through the absence of human power and resources, or the abandonment of reliance on them. All through history God has chosen and used nobodies, because their unusual dependence on him made possible the unique display of his power and grace. He chose and used somebodies only when they renounced dependence on their natural abilities and resources. Genesis 20
Old sins have a way of hanging on and really can cause us and others much harm. Join me in reading how God uses normal people, who have many flaws and are used in mighty ways. Genesis 20 will provide you and me with encouragement!
