Satan’s first attack upon the human race was his sly effort to destroy Eve’s confidence in the kindness of God. Nothing twists and deforms the soul more than a low or unworthy conception of God. Ultimately, God's love and nature was brought into question by Satan and it resulted in the Fall.
As we worship and grow in Christ, it's our understanding of who God really is that provides us freedom. Doubt causes sin and misery. Confidence in God's nature provides freedom and joy.
