Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2:18

Jesus had to become a man so He could have compassion and sympathy for us, His brothers and sisters! God could have chosen any beings in His creation, but He chose for the following reason, as shared by Charles Spurgeon, "God did not choose angels to be made High Priests because, however benevolent they might be in their wishes, they could not be sympathetic. They could not understand the peculiar needs and trials of the men with whom they had to deal. Ministers who of God are made to be a flame of fire could scarcely commune familiarly with those who confess themselves to be as dust and ashes!" As a result, He chose to come Himself in the form of a man, so we could relate to Him and know that He understands us!
