In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17
When I was younger, this section always made me struggle because I have never felt I did enough for God. I asked my father once and he told me a story that went something like this,
A father asked his kid a simple question. He pointed to a tree and asked what kind it was. The child answered that it was an orange tree and the dad asked how they knew because it didn't have any oranges on it. The child pointed to the leaves, smell and flowers. He then asked, "what if it never had any oranges on it, would it still be an orange tree?" The child replied yes, but not a very good one. "So, which do you want to be," he asked "a good one or one that doesn't produce much? You'd still be an orange tree, just not a productive one."
