He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.” John 11:43-44
This is the last and culminating miracle documented by John in his Gospel. Jesus's final words on the matter are so impactful, "Loose him and let him go." When we accept Jesus in our lives, the rags of our past are discarded. Unfortunately, we often allow them to be put back on. AW Tozer has this to say about this, "The devil makes it his business to keep Christians in bondage, bound and gagged, actually imprisoned in their own grave clothes! So, it becomes the devil’s business to keep the Christian’s spirit imprisoned. He knows that the believing and justified Christian has been raised up out of the grave of his sins and trespasses. From that point on, Satan works that much harder to keep us bound and gagged, actually imprisoned in our own grave clothes." John 11:44
Let's throw off any of our old grave clothes and be encouraged by John 11!
PS - I'm traveling for work on the 23rd - 24th. I'll return with John 12 on the 25th.
