At the time of Malachi, the people are discouraged by corrupt priests and have a complacent attitude about their relationship with God. Malachi writes to condemn their behavior.
God has consistently communicated with the Jews their whole existence and then, He stops for 400 years! Can you imagine the impact that must have had??? Some will say we haven't heard from Him for 2000+ years, but we have the Holy Spirit and He speaks to us daily, if we'll only listen!
